Sedona Medicinal Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy. Much More Than a Pretty Smell!

Sedona medicinal aromatherapy massageWhat comes to mind when you hear the word aromatherapy? A pretty scent or aroma? Aromatherapy is so much more!

Aromatherapy, specifically, Medicinal Aromatherapy is an ancient form of plant medicine and natural healing. Aromatherapy is reputed to be at least 6000 years old. Translations of ancient manuscripts indicate that priests and physicians used essential oils for healing and rituals for thousands of years before the birth of Christ!

An essential oil is the pure, highly concentrated extract, of the plant, tree or flower. They are 100 times more powerful than dried herbs as it takes pounds and pounds of the particular tree bark, leaf, flower, root or rhizome to produce a small amount of essential oil. Essential oils are very complex in their chemical composition and make up.

How to use medicinal-grade essential oils

The essences… when used correctly (as directed by a medicinal aromatherapist) are extremely safe, powerful and effective. Here are three common methods used to experience essential oils.

  • Topical Application – When each oil is layered properly, “neat” on the skin, the medicinal component of the essences are allowed to be fully absorbed and work with the body’s natural healing ability.

  • Internal Consumption – Some essences are suitable for internal use. Be sure to consult a medicinal aromatherapist before ingesting any essential oil.

  • Inhalation- Inhale directly, use a diffuser, humidifier, or put a few drops of the oil in a cup of hot water.

There truly is no condition…physical, emotional, mental/spiritual, that pure essences cannot assist. Some conditions are: sore/pulled muscles, chronic fatigue, thyroid/hormonal imbalances, high/low blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, allergies, migraines, menopause, ADD/ADHD, sore throat, flu, asthma, Candida, depression, insomnia, grief/loss, and anxiety/panic attacks.
